Director of Information Technology (On-site)

Location: Oak Brook, IL - Corporate

General Description

The Director of Information Technology will have the unique opportunity to lead initiatives within both the IT organization, as well as serve as a thought partner and collaborator on cross-functional initiatives. In this leadership role, you will have the opportunity and accountability to define and execute on the strategy for initiatives, PMO, and the IT responsibilities for growth (de novo, M&A, and any potential future opportunities such as joint ventures).

Additionally, you will lead the Project Management Office, supporting the critical initiatives that enable our organization to rapidly grow and expand. You will collaborate with all areas of our organization, by acting as both a partner and thought leader to the business. By leading, and driving accountability for those initiatives, through IT, Executive Committee, and functional teams, you will be instrumental in driving meaningful change.

The successful candidate will embrace the challenge of solving critical business problems, as well as possess a strong ability to absorb and evaluate information from a variety of sources and maintain a "big picture" view. In this critical role, you must be able to influence and inspire others, develop and nurture relationships within all areas and levels within the organization, and have a passion for delivering amazing patient and employee experiences.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage both the IT Portfolio of initiatives, as well as any critical organizational initiatives identified by the Executive Committee
  • Participate and support in developing the IT Value Creation Plan and strategic 3-year roadmap
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise PMO governance framework including:
    • Project evaluation & selection: business case development, financial modeling (including project expense and ROI development)
    • Portfolio, program and project management rationalization and ownership
    • Playbook development and continuous improvement
    • Project budget accountability
    • Build a Benefits Realization framework to report on ROI delivered during/after projects
    • Manage team capacity and provide Executive Committee with quarterly demand and capacity models; make recommendations for team structure and portfolio prioritization

    • Lead IT Executive Steering Committee as needed
  • Develop a change management framework
    • Formalize how organizational IT change management will be managed in large cross-functional initiatives
    • Identify risk and make appropriate recommendations about potential upstream/downstream implications
  • Lead the IT components of the organizational growth strategy including:
    • Budget accountability for IT expenses in relation to de novos and integration
    • Bid procurement, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and management of strategic partners
    • Analyze Integration contracts and expenses, and determine favorability of contracts and when to transition services to Medulla enterprise agreements
  • Take a strategic approach to Operational Excellence including:
    • Analyze business processes & systems to identify optimization and efficiency opportunities
    • Develop a 3 year roadmap for IT Operational Excellence initiatives
    • Design and implement appropriate strategies and solutions
    • Provide thought leadership to cross-functional teams to enable enterprise-wide IT operational excellence and playbook development
    • Make decisions and changes for daily operations within IT
  • Provide strong leadership, with a focus on talent development and employee engagement
    • Share the vision and inspire team members to accomplish more than they thought possible
    • Apply practical tools of Servant Leadership as a way of influencing a high performing team
    • Lead by example and seek to develop and mentor managers and other high-potential employees
    • Develop and lead professional development sessions: topics, content creation, and delivery
    • Apply effective listening, questioning and information gathering techniques necessary for facilitating effective group collaboration sessions
    • Maintain a close eye on employee engagement and identify opportunities to both strengthen and sustain the team culture
